CRIME PREVENTION BOOST A WIN FOR OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

Community safety is set to be improved after the Andrews Labor Government provided a $9,500 grant for CoDesign Studio to fund the Brunswick Bluestone Laneways Revitalisation Project.

Member for Brunswick Jane Garrett today congratulated CoDesign Studio for their hard work to make Brunswick a safer place.

This grant involves the revitalisation and physical transformation of a bluestone laneway in Brunswick to strengthen relationships between neighbours, improve the physical appearance of the laneway and increase activity on the street.

The project will also review and capture findings of the earlier Chook Lane project 12 months on and provide a model for community laneway renewal to roll out across all 67km of laneways.

The Labor Government’s Community Safety Fund is providing more than $800,000 across Victoria to reduce local crime and improve community safety through over 100 practical and innovative projects.

The Fund is part of the Andrews Government’s $5.8 million investment in community crime prevention, aimed at tackling crime and its root causes.
