Mirboo North skaters can look forward to honing their skills at their own local park thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Eastern Victoria, Jane Garrett today announced the government is contributing $200,000 from the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund towards a skate bowl extension as well as a new half-size basketball court at Baromi Park in Mirboo North.

The expanded skate bowl and new half-court will be a massive boost to a growing number of skaters who need a place capable of staging regional competition as well as local skating.

The South Gippsland Shire Council and the Mirboo North skating community were also acknowledged for their commitment and financial contribution to the project.

The $180 million Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is helping develop new sport and recreation infrastructure, and rejuvenate grounds and ageing clubrooms across Victoria.

Across Victoria the Labor Government has invested more than $850 million in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.
