LABOR TO FUND HISTORIC FOOTBALL CLUB UPGRADE
An Andrews Labor Government will upgrade sports facilities at Moreland City Football Club.
Opposition Leader, Daniel Andrews, today joined Member for Brunswick, Jane Garrett, to announce the good news to the community.
Victorian Labor’s $500,000 plan for Campbell Reserve, on Moreland Rd, will redevelop ageing facilities at Moreland City Football Club.
A new club room, a function room, a canteen, two additional change rooms and new toilets would feature in the upgrade.
The club was established in 1916. It has a growing junior membership, fielding 11 junior teams consisting of more than 200 players and hopes to double its junior ranks with this upgrade.
Dan Andrews said:
“Community sports clubs deserve club rooms they can be proud of and facilities that can help them grow.”
“Locals have been calling for this upgrade but Denis Napthine hasn’t listened.”
“We’ll build modern and safe sports facilities in the heart of Moreland, because it’s great for our kids.”
Jane Garrett said:
“I’ve been working closely with Moreland City FC on this – it’s a dedicated local club and its members deserve these modern facilities.”
“We want to see more kids in our area getting active and taking up the world game.”
“With this investment, Moreland City FC can double its membership.”
