FOSTERING CREATIVITY IN THE CLASSROOM
Victorian secondary school students will have the chance to learn from industry-leading creatives as applications open for the Andrews Labor Government’s Creative Learning Partnerships program.
Schools in Eastern Victoria can apply for grants to partner with leading Victorian artists, writers, performers, designers and creative organisations in 2020. Through this residency-style program, creatives work with students and teachers to present a project.
Schools are encouraged to consider partnerships exploring any creative discipline, with all projects in line with the school’s curriculum.
The program enables schools to explore how creativity can strengthen education outcomes from Foundation to Year 10, including VET and VCAL.
Schools can apply for grants of up to $10,000 for a 20-day project with an individual creative professional or $35,000 for a longer residency with a creative organisation.
The program encourages applications from schools in rural areas, and in previous years has seen successful partnerships that have combined face-to-face learning with virtual learning to connect students with their artists.
The Creative Learning Partnerships program is a joint initiative between the Department of Education and Training and Creative Victoria.
Applications close 5pm, Thursday 19 September. Project activity must commence after 14 April 2020 (term two) and can occur at any time in terms two, three or four.
