NEW CLEANING TABLES A WIN FOR FISHERS AT HASTINGS
Bringing fresh fillets home of Western Port’s finest fish will be easier than ever, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s investment in new fish cleaning tables at Hastings.
Construction has wrapped on the undercover tables that feature sensor lighting and running water to clean catch no matter the day or weather conditions.
Hastings is one of several locations across the state with new fish cleaning facilities thanks to the Labor Government’s $35 million Go Fishing Victoria plan to get more people fishing more often.
The tables measure three metres long by 1.4 metres wide and provide more than double the capacity of the old setup, catering for catches ranging from King George whiting right up to a big tuna or kingfish.
Hastings is popular among anglers hitting Western Port and chasing snapper, King George whiting, calamari, gummy shark, flathead, and trevally, while catches of kingfish and tuna are offered offshore.

“We invested in these facilities because we know how much easier it makes things for fishers when they can clean their catch at the ramp and take-home fillets that are ready to throw straight into the pan.”
“Whether it’s snapper, King George whiting, gummy shark or even kingfish and tuna, these tables are big enough to handle the wide variety of species on offer in Western Port, all of which are delicious on the dinner table.”
