SUPPORTING MORE COMMUNITY FACILITIES IN WELLINGTON
Much loved community meeting spaces in Glenmaggie and Stratford will be upgraded thanks to Victorian Government funding.
Member for Eastern Victoria Jane Garrett today announced over $100,000 in funding for Glenmaggie Mechanics Institute and the Stratford RSL from the Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community and Facility Fund.
Glenmaggie Mechanics Institute will be transformed thanks to a $71,639 grant to upgrade the sitting room and library space, put down new flooring, repainting and new accessible toilets. It will enhance community access and allow the hall to attract larger events to the local area.
Accessibility and safety will be improved at the Stratford RSL, with the sub-branch receiving $62,251 to enhance their facilities.
The upgrades will include installing accessible toilets, widening internal doorways, and improving access to the building’s main entrances. It will mean users of the facility no longer have to cross the road to use public toilets, enabling increased participation and comfort.
More than 230 community groups across the Latrobe Valley region are now seeing the benefits of improved facilities thanks to the Victorian Government’s Community and Facility Fund, delivered as part of the Latrobe Valley Authority’s $266 million package.
